Prayer to Saint Rita of Cascia

O powerful St. Rita, rightly called Saint of the Impossible,
I come to you with confidence in my great need.
You know well my trials,
for you yourself were many times burdened in this life.

Come to my help, speak for me, pray with me,
intercede on my behalf before the Father.

I know that God has a most generous heart
and that he is a most loving Father.

Join your prayers to mine
and obtain for me the grace I desire

You who were so very pleasing to God on earth
and are so much so now in heaven,
I promise to use this favor, when granted,
to better my life, to proclaim God’s mercy,
and to make you more widely known and loved.

Who was Saint Rita of Cascia?

Rita of Cascia, an Italian widow and a nun of the Augustinian order, is one of the greatest intercessors in the Church’s history.
She endured many difficulties in life with a quiet holiness and radiant love. Her deep faith and tenderness brought about the conversion of her abusive husband before he was murdered.
After losing both her sons as well, Rita entered the Augustinian convent in Cascia. This, too, was not an easy task.
It was in that Italian convent that Rita received a wound on her forehead during a moment of mystical union with the suffering Christ whom she adored. After her death, her miraculous intercession brought healing and resolution to many impossible situations.
Her intercession is sought specially in family situations, illnesses, or personal struggles that seem impossible.
