The Fatima Prayer
May 13 is the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, the day on which Mary appeared for the first time to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal.
What is the Fatima Prayer?
In the year 1917, Mary appeared to three shepherd children (Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta) three times between May 13 and October 13. During these visits, she spoke to them about prayer, penance, and the need to pray for the world.
The Fatima Prayer is a short invocation that Mary taught these children. She asked them to say this prayer after each decade of the Rosary. The prayer is a simple expression of trust in God’s mercy and a way of interceding for those most in need of it.
The Fatima Prayer
O my Jesus,
forgive us our sins,
save us from the fires of hell,
lead all souls to heaven,
especially those
in most need
of Thy mercy.

Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima
This prayer can be said as a family before praying the Holy Rosary.
O Most Holy Virgin Mary, Queen of the most holy Rosary, you were pleased to appear to the children of Fatima and reveal a glorious message. We implore you, inspire in our hearts a fervent love for the recitation of the Rosary. By meditating on the mysteries of the redemption that are recalled therein may we obtain the graces and virtues that we ask, through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer.
Amen.
